From the church of San Martino (elevation 210m) on the slope just above the road, you can enjoy an excellent view of the lower part of the lake up to Lecco. At Borbino (elevation 260m) the route passes above the village, but the area is worth a visit for its old houses huddled together, almost as if they are protecting each other, not wanting to occupy the space of the fields. The section to the spur which divides Abbadia and Mandello is peaceful, with wild fields dotted with the odd building here and there. A small bridge crosses the Zerbo stream (Monastero Valley) on which Abbadia sprouts. A rest area is present at the foot of the hill of the Castle where the church of San Bartolomeo stands out. The route becomes tarmacked by a tall apartment building and bends to the left, under the motorway and, then veers immediately right reverting back to a country land. After the cottages of Tirolo, there is an uphill slope leading to the church of San Giorgio, offering a pretty view of the shoreline we have just walked.
